Day 99 & 100: Yay, arrived in Delaware Water Gap and got a great back massage on a wonderful zero day

✨️ A long dry strech on my AT thru-hike: just after Wind Gap

Day 99: longest dry strech on trail I remember – over 10 miles

Mile Marker: 1297.1 Miles today: 19.8

Yay, early morning start. I was on trail by 6:30 AM. It’s always nice when you are awake as the sun gets up. Everything feels calm.

Just before arriving in Wind Gap, around 9:00AM I was feeling moody. Yeah, I was… Perhaps a little hungry as well. The person I was hiking with that morning kind of saw it too😅 The decision was made to order some McDonalds as soon as we got close to the road crossing (and good cell service) 🍔. Just before ordering, we made are way to the motel just near the trail head. Guess who was there ? Giggles ! It was a good while that I did not see him. I was so happy 🙂 Then the food was ordered. I was overjoyed ! Not long afternoon arriving, more people arrived. It was such a great break.

Before heading out, the water bottles got refilled. As I slowly made my way back to trail, guess what now ? Trail magic was just arriving at the trail head as I got there ✨ I did not stay long, since I didn’t want to make it to Delaware Water Gap too late. I took a Gatorade bottle if recall correctly.

The trail was nice & cruisy. I remember flying over the rocks. I ate few wild berries along the way as well…But after about 10 miles after leaving, that amazing feeling did not stay that way.

Afternoon the afternoon high

I was low (very low on water). Every water stash (& water sources) I came accross were all dry. No water in pretty much the middle of heat wave… My mouth was dry & I could feel my body not feeling it’s best. I decided not to do the small detour to the Kirkridge Shelter because the comments on FarOut (& Awol) said the water pump was broken…so why do extra distance ?

So I walked passed it, and I just remember hoping to see some water soon. Eventually, my phone rang. A fellow thru-hiker called saying they had water ! Yay, the person soon catched up to me & shared some.

Got to town around 6:45PM that night. I stayed the night I a lovely Yellow B&B…and I knew I was getting to sleep in the next morning ! A day of rest. Once I took my shower, changed into looner clothes & started a wash, it was time for town food. Got dropped of by Stone legs (a trail angel) at a nice little restaurant just outside of town. Got picked up by him again back to the B&B. Thank you !

After a great and relaxing dinner, time for good night rest.

Day 100: zero day in town

Mile Marker: 1297.1 Miles today: 0

Slept in this morning, so so nice. But hey, sleeping in when you are thru-hiking, even on a zero day is not that late: I was eating breakfast (in bed – yes I got some food to eat in bed) at 10:00AM.

After breakfast, went in town & hung around. Went to a nice bakery for lunch. Oh, and I found a buissnes card for a person doing massages in one of the local shops: I called & booked one for later that day. That massage was very nice. I also went 2 times at the coffee shop.

Made it back to the B&B to simple lay back and enjoy the passing of time. For dinner that night, Stone Legs made some spagetthi trail magic. Everyone (every thru-hiker staying in town) came over. I pretty sure I had a picture of everyone that evening…but I do not find it 🤷‍♀️ Perhaps I took it with someone else phone… It’s in my memory at least.

Lots of people went out that night. I decided to go to bed early.
