✨️ Seing so many fellow thru-hikers at Leroy A. Smith Shelter, what a great time
Mile Marker: 1277.3 Miles today: 16.1
Late start this morning. I got on trail around 10:00AM. But man oh man, was is nice to wake up slowly, in a bed, make some coffee, drink it slowly & have a nice little breakfast…
Did I mention clean clothes. Well, maybe not for long !
A good portion of trail today was on land in restoration. About half an hour after the start of the day, the big boulders of rocks came! Man, what a climb out of town. It’s probably one of the most impressive hike out of town on the whole Appalachian Trail. Just a perfect time if enjoy that kind of thing.
The climb went actually very well: I enjoyed it so much ! Once at the top, I took a few moments to enjoy the view & journey up untill now.
In the afternoon
Around 1:00 PM, trail magic: some water jugs with an encouraging word: ” YOU GOT THIS!”.
This might sound silly, but that word, that small action can make a world of a difference in someone’s day. I was having a great day, so I did not need it in that moment, but it made smile, and proud of what I have done so far.
A little later, around 4:30 PM, more trail magic ! YAY. I had this most wonderfull sandwich: a big slice of baloney with some chips. Yum. It’s actually on my favorite sandwiches 🥪
Got to Leroy A. Smith Shelter by 6:00 PM. A few people I haven’t seen for a while we’re there ! So nice to see familiar faces, and new ones. It’s truly nice when you get at a shelter and/or campsite, and the mood is just nice, laidback & fun.
I was ready for bed time around 8:30 PM, even if sunlight. I got to see the colors of the sunset going down through the trees.
