✨️A little more time with my parents, the heat (86F in the shade) & super gluing my shoes
Day 95: Afternoon with my parents
Mile Marker: 1235.3 Miles today: 15
My parents dropped my off around 8:30 AM. Started the day nice & slow (if you don’t take the climb out of Port Clinton into consediration…but by now, there’s almost always a climb out of town). As I was walking mindlessly, the person I was walking arount that day jumped in his track. It caught me off guard, it’s startled me ! The person jump because of a big rattle snake just on the side of trail!!!
I know I need to keep an eye out for them, but I am still always surprised by the snakes.
Took a little break near mile 1226 (Windsor Furnance Shelter). Looking at the map on Far Out, I saw a blue blaze bypassing Pulpit Rock. Considering the comments of all the Cooper Heads sighting in the comments, the heat of the day, and it’s the last day with my parents, I decided to take the blue blaze. I passed near a nice town reservoir. To bad it wasn’t a lake. With this heat, I would of went for a swim.
Saw some more deers today, but not just any deer: a mama deer that huffed & a little later I could hear a fawn (a baby deer) crying on & off – it was very close by.
Finally got to the Eckville Shelter (what a very nice shelter, WOW) around 2:30 PM which gave me a nice afternoon with my parents in town.

Day 94: Already sweating at the start (& 2000km)
Mile Marker: 1246.8 Miles today: 11.5
A little bitter sweet morning when my parents dropped my off at the trail head (just in front of the Eckville shelter). I was so happy I got to share some time with them & they got to see a climpse of what life is on trail is, and that they got to see & do trail magic !!!
The first entry of my journal of the day was :”hot warm humid day“. I was already sweating starting the day. Around 1:30 PM, I passed the 2000 km marker (the only marker in km marque I saw on trail). For me, that’s big. It’s such a huge distance, with so much more to go !
Apart from seing some snakes that I could not identify, it’s was a pretty normal day. Some might also say the heat was intense, but I feel it has been (and will be) for a while now.
The day finished much earlier than I expected (around 3:30 PM) at PA 309, or the Lookout Hostel.
Relaxed around the hostel & pitched the tent for the night. Also went to a restaurent near by where I had a wonderful fresh salad. Oh, and that night was not great: I was sweating, tossing & turning all night…no fun. I even slept outside of the tent thinking it might help…it did not.
