Almost half way !!! ✨️End of the roller coaster, entering West Virginia, getting to Harpers Ferry & registering at the ATC…✨️

Day 81: Bears Den to Harpers Ferry

Mile Marker: 1025.7 Miles today: 19.9

We left Bears Den hostel around 9AM. As a group, we decided to do a little road walking…Once we made it back on trail, 1.5 miles to be exact, at the end of the roller coaster, I realized I passed the boarder sign of Virginia/West Virginia…

So, What did I do ?

I decided to turn back and get my picture at the sign. That picture was 3 extra miles, of the roller coaster ! Man, I love that picture !!!! Good thing I do.

On my way back toward the end of the roller coaster, I came across a black snake. It caught me off guard…Once I came to my senses, continued my way towards the Blackurn Center: got some trail magic – a cookie & a doctor pepper 🤗

After the trail magic, walking in Harpers Ferry was great. We listened & sang some country songs on our way. And the view of the river coming in, just amazing!!! It was just a nice day 😄 We decided to stay at Cross Trails hostel.

Harpers Ferry is considered the psychological half way point of the Appalachian Trail. It is a huge milestone in the hike ! You have conquered half of the difficult journey from Georgia to Maine.

Day 82: rest day

A zero Day !! In the morning, I went to the ATC to have my picture taken. Wanted to go at the post office, but we missed it since we got there a little after noon…I was in a bad mood in that moment. It happens

During the rest of the day, I rested & enjoyed the rest of the day and walked around town.
