Day 72 to 75: The Shenandoahs & 900 miles

✨️Entering the Shenandoahs 🤩 900 Miles, Rattlesnakes, waysides, blackberries milkshakes & so much fun !!

Day 72: Rockfish Gap to Blackrock Hut

Mile Marker: 885.2 Miles today: 21

I left the hostel with the 8AM shuttle. Bodacious was the one who drove us to the trail head. What a feeling, entering the Shenandoah National Park today. I heard so much about it, and there I am!!!

What a great day of hiking. Hiked with so much people today, Snapper, Sopita, Avalanche, Bearito…saw Giggles & Quip. We saw 2 rattlesnakes today!!! The first one was making some noise as Snapper, Bearito & I where having a snak. The other, we did not hear, since it seemed to be resting near the wall we were resting on…good thing we did not sit beside it.

That night, Snapper started a fire…I helped to collect wood. I found the last 0.3 miles of the day hard. I was out of water for a while, the heat was really starting to get to me. Good thing the shelter was “close”.

Day 73: Blackrock Hut to Hightop Hut

Mile Marker: 906.6 Miles today: 21.4

Got a late start this morning around 9AM. I was looking foward to my first wayside !! Once there, I got a smash burger & a blackberry milkshake. So so good! Lots of hikers were enjoying a nice meal & a milkshake…so many of us 😁

This is also the day I did my first roadwalking. The old AT actualy use to go on the road. Lots of hikers decide to road walk a good portion of the Shanondoahs since the road & trail intersects often & the best views are probably by the road.

The views are nice. I think my favorite one of that day was the Bacon Hollow Overlook. A man who grew in the valley below came by the viewpoint Snapper & I was looking at. He had not been here since 1978. He talked about memories he had. It was a nice moment to share.

Had such a great time with everyone that day !!! We also had a nice fire at camp that night.

Day 74: Hightop Hut to Rock Spring Hut

Mile Marker: 930.5 Miles today: 23.9

We got some more beautiful view points, some trail magic & so much fun !!! Just before getting to Big Meadows, I was low on water, but I still enjoyed a nice break along the way 🤗 The time at the wayside was a blast. So much fellow hikers we’re enjoying their time up until just before sunset. That’s what we call to vortex 😀 It was the first night I did some night hiking. Also decided to pack out a beer. Once at the shelter, after sunset, Snapper and I enjoyed our beer & the moment. It was such an awsome day! One of the best on trail ✨️

Day 74: Rock Spring Hut to Byrds Nest 3 Hut

Mile Marker: 941.4 Miles today: 10.9

The next morning, we got a late start: there’s a person who was not feeling well at the shelter that morning. We made sure that person was in good hands before starting the day. It was also a great time at an other wayside. We also got to enjoy an awsome view point of the park!!!
