Day 67: James River Footbrigde (Glasgow) to US60/Long Moutain Wayside
Mile Marker: 809.3 Miles today: 22
✨️ 800 miles ✨️ slackpacking 22 miles & hiking with Sopita & Avalanche
We got some rain this morning, but I don’t recall it to be bad. I didn’t write to much about today. It was simply a beautiful day, even with the rain. I got to know 2 great people! They are funny & always a pleasure to be with. I did not know it at the time, but I would go on & do a whole lot more hiking with them.
As usual in town, we got some town food, including milkshakes!!!

Day 68: US60/Long Moutain Wayside to Spy Rock Road
Mile Marker: 825.5 Miles today: 16.1
✨️ Time with the brick by the fire, taking a big afternoon nap on trail, a snake & more town food !!!
It was a georgous day. The sky turned grey for a while, but no rain (at least not that I remember since no notes on that in my journal). Around the end of the trail before town, I took a long afternoon nap (a good 1h30 easy). Once in town, we went back to the only restaurant for food. I ate a whole lot of town food. Oh, also saw an other snake on trail…I really don’t like them.
In the evening, I passed some quality time with the brick around a fire 🤗

Day 69: Spy Rock Road to Reid’s Gap
Mile Marker: 845.2 Miles today: 19.8
✨️ What a great day!!! ✨️Read the confessions at the priest shelter, so juicy…lost my umbrella, tons of ups & downs, huge thunder storm in the evening, first time eating Cook Out & swam in a creek 😄
Started the day with the climb to Spy Rock. What a gorgeous view up there. That’s where the video posted on Instagram was taken…I almost fell 🤣 Then I made my way to the Priest shelter. Man on man, it was a pleasure to read the confession book ! I also confessed mine….but that is mine to keep & fellow hikers to read 😉
About mid-way down from the Priest Mountain heading towards the Tye River Suspension Bridge….I realized I was missing my umbrella !!! Since I love it so much, I did 0.7 miles back up trying to find it 🤷♀️ Then guess who I see coming down? Bunny!! And she had found an umbrella…she found it almost at the summit. I was so happy she had it, she made my day !! Thank you again 😃
Once I got on the other side of the bridge, I went for an afternoon swim. The water was great!! I think Sopita might have a picture somewhere…
After that relaxing swim, it was time to climb over Three Ridges Mountain. Ouf, what I climb. I was happy I was with Sopita going up.
At the end of the day of hiking, I went to Cook Out with a few other people. The food was great! And we we’re all happy to be inside. What a storm!!! We could see the grey clouds come in on the top of Three Ridge Mountain…we got lucky we got in town before it hit!!! Apparently it was scary…
What a great day it was ✨️
