Day 61: 17 miles – Pickle Branch Shelter to Campbell Shelter

Mile marker: 715.1 Miles today: 17

700 miles, Dragons Tooth & McAfee Knob 🥰

I woke-up with so much excitment this morning! Today is the day I will see McAfee Knob. It is probably one of the most photographed place on the Appalachian Trail. I saw so many pictures & Youtubers there, now it is my turn. So crazy !

But before, I passed the 700 mile marker after less then an hour after leaving camp !!!

The day started with a climb. I remember it was not easy going up to Dragons Tooth. It was a workout 😄

On the climb up, a saw 3 beautiful deers. I even got a video of one going accros the trail and looking at me.

The rock formation at Dragons Tooth is so beautiful. Even tought the view was fogged in, I climbed up on the rock. Liberty took a great picture of me ! So happy 🙂

The climb down was really rocky.

Even tought I was so happy for Dragon Tooth, I had a meltdown on my way to McAfee Knob. I just sat on a rock & cried for no reason for a while. Then I decided to eat a bar…felt much better afterwards 😎 Perhaps I was just hungry.

Making my way to the Knob, I passed trought a pasture of cows & even saw a turtle on trail 🙂

Pictures & video

When I got to McAfee, the view was ….all fog. No view at all & the rain started slowly.

I took my picture up there and did not stay long. I will definitly go back, hopefully on a nice day.

I was happy I had a place left in the shelter that night. Did not have to sent up my tent in the rain. In the middle of the night, when I went to the privy, I saw glowing eyes staring back at me for the second night in a row. Let’s just say I did want I needed to do quicky, and went back to the shelter & sleep.
