Day 49: 16.1 miles – Dickey Gap Trail to VA16 (Pat Jennings Visitor Center/Marion)

Mile marker: 534.5 Miles today: 16.1

This morning, I was happy to wake-up to a dry tent floor.

After the fire with the caretaker of the camping, it started pouring rain. Sure enough, where I decided to setup my tent, I had puddles of water just under my tent floor! Guess my tent floor passes the test 😃

After packing up & breakfast, I headed back on trail.

Happy to know that was going to be in town by the end of the day & take a rest day.

I will be able to “fix” my glasses that broke.

The trail went well that day. Nothing that stood out of the usual. But, I did came across lovely bridge!

At the top of the ridge before making your way down to the Visitor Center, a bench was installed. I took a small break.

Coming down from the ridge, off course, it started to rain & it poured for a short while.

Partnership Shelter, just beside the Visitor Center is nice. Definitely a great place to stay.

A few people was at the Center when I got there. We chated before my shuttle driver to town arrived.

That night, I treated myself to a nice B&B in Marion. The owner, Carol, is really nice & know’s how to make you feel like at home.

I ate dinner with Phenix that evening. We had a nice conversation. Happy I got to know him before he moved on. He’s doing some big mile days !
