Rain was planned for the afternoon. Puff & I decided not to push and go over Blood Mountain in the rain in order to go into Neel’s Gap that day. Also we hoped that we would have view up there the next day. So, we decided to camp at Lance Creek, the closest we could to Blood Mountain without sleeping where a bear canister is required….since neither of us decided to carry one.
We started our day at 8h30 and arrived to camp at 12h30, giving us ample time to set camp before the rain. Rain started around 2-3 pm.
I also got “trail magic” that morning: an apple!
The view at the top of Preaching Rock is stunning!!! We took a 30 minute rest for lunch not to far from the top where the wind was not blowing as hard.
What a beautiful day of hiking.
