Mile marker: 166.5 Miles today: 10.1
It only took me 4 hours to do 10 miles! That was quick. Perhaps it was the snow and/or the cold that made me hike quicker…
So happy to have made it to Fontana: the last stop before the Great Smoky Mountains.
The shelter at Fontana is superb! Very nice, big, showers, power & a very nice view!! They call it the “Hilton”.
That night, I stayed at Creekside Paradise B&B. It was very cozy & they had a hot tub! Oh yes, that was very nice.
The other hikers & I enjoyed talking about a little of everything while being in hot tub, especially since it was cold outside.
As any time I walk in/near a town, it’s a resupply day: buy food for the next few days, wash the clothes, shower, wash your water filter, clean your cooking pot…do all kinds of chores for which you do not have time on trail.
