Day 17: 8.8 miles – Locust Cove Gap to Cable Gap Shelter

Mile marker: 156.4 Miles today: 8.8

What a surprise in the morning!!! Snow ❄️

I ate breakfast from the tent vestibule since I was cold.

I started the day in all my layers.

I did not really expect to have snow, but I was happy to see it in the morning. As I got higher in altitude, the more snow was on the ground!

At camp that night, we made a fire. There where quite a few people at camp.

There wasn’t really a flat spot that night. I tried to put some extra clothing/equipment under my sleeping pad to equalize the terrain…more or less a success.

But, I got some pringles from a fellow hiker. I was happy.

During the day, someone who camped a little closer to trail than I did the night before ( a couple feet), said he heard the breathing of a bear 🐻
